Blueberry jam (Confettura di mirtilli) is one of the typical Italian foods made with 700g of fresh blueberries blacks, 400 g sugar and 1 lemon. For more details can see the table below :
Ingeredients :
- 700g of fresh blueberries blacks
- 400 g sugar
- 1 lemon
Instructions :
- Quickly wash and drain the blueberries in cold water. (Do not leave them to soak in the water, because they will absorb the liquid).
- Cover the berries with the sugar and leave to marinate for two hours.
- Put the cranberries and sugar on low flame for about an hour and add the lemon.
- Let them start to foam and stir occasionally with a wooden spoon, while crushing the blueberries.
- During cooking prepare the jars and lids by washing and sterilizing them in boiling water for 30 minutes.
- When the jam is grainy and not too runny, turn off the heat.
- To understand if the consistency is correct, pour a teaspoon of jam on a saucer and let it cool: if it solidifies a bit, then the mixture is ready to be put into jars, otherwise cook a little bit more.
- Once you have begun filling the jars, stop 2-3 cm from the edge, close the cap and invert to cool.
- Store the jam in a cool, dark place.

- It is recommended to let the jam stand for 20 days before consumption, once opened, it must be consumed in 15 days at most.
